Astralis dominated the professional CSGO scene from 2016 to 2021, popularly known as the Astralis era, winning four major championships as well as other prestigious LAN competitions like the Intel Grand Slam. For two years running, they were regarded as the world's top team (2018-2019), with Device being their star awper.
That all changed when Nicolai "device" Reedtz, four times major winner, left Astralis in April 2021 for Ninjas In Pyjamas (NIP).
Following his transfer to NIP, what followed were a series of subpar performances at premier events, leading to Device moving to the bench while on the NIP roster. For almost a year starting late 2021. Device withdrew from the competitive scene for about a year beginning in late 2021, citing burnout and mental health difficulties.
His return to Astralis, though, changes everything. The legendary awper has officially signed a multi-year deal with Astralis, confirming major reports.
Everyone knows that I have been through a difficult period, but I’ve taken the time out that I needed to recover and find the best version of myself
Nicolai "device" Reedtz
Device is set to replace Asger "Farlig" Jensen who is the current awper for the Astralis roster.
