The U.S.-based game developer, ACTIVISION recently announced the Call Of Duty Mobile: World Championship 2021 for their mobile title CODM with a massive prize pool of $2 Million. Scheduled to start on August 21, ACTIVISION will be partnering with the Japanese tech giant SONY for the tournament.



With the rapidly expanding mobile esports industry, it's only natural for popular game titles, brands, and sponsors to enter the world of mobile gaming, with premier tournaments boasting massive prize pools.


With PUBGM and Free Fire putting on massive prize pool tournaments in an attempt to dominate the scene, ACTIVISION announcing CODM: WC 2021 to claim a piece of the action was unavoidable. Stage 4: Regional Playoffs Format


The teams that qualified in the Stage 3 qualifiers will compete in their respective regions in a double-elimination bracket format, where teams that lose a match will be placed in the elimination bracket, and the team that loses in the elimination bracket will be eliminated. All matches will be best-of-five, with the winners advancing to the Stage 5 World Championship Finals to compete for the lion's share of the prize pool and the title of World Champion.


Stage 4: Regional Playoffs Allowed Devices


Players will be required to compete on the Sony Xperia 1 III device explicitly during stages 4 and 5, while controllers and any other external equipment like triggers etc that could be used to gain an unfair advantage over other players will be prohibited from use in the tournament.


Stage 4: Regional Playoffs Schedule

  • South Asia & Middle East (SAME) - Aug 21 to Aug 22

  • Japan (JP) - Aug 27 to Aug 29

  • Latin America (LATAM) - Aug 28 to Aug 29

  • North America (NA) - Sep 4 to Sep 5

  • Europe (EU) - Sep 18 to Sep 19


Apart from the regional playoffs, aspiring teams would also be able to qualify for the World Championship Finals by participating in select “regional Partner tournaments” approved by the Administration.


Prizepool


The stage 4 Regional Playoffs will feature a prize pool of $50,000, while the stage 5 COD Mobile World Championship prize will boast a massive prize pool of $2 million splits between the top 8 teams of the World Championship.

  • 1st Place: $15,000

  • 2nd Place: $10,000

  • 3rd Place: $8,000

  • 4th Place: $5,000

  • 5th Place: $3,500

  • 5th Place: $3,500

  • 7th Place: $2,500

  • 7th Place: $2,500

All of the matches will be streamed live on the official CODM social media handles, allowing fans to watch the action as it happens. Now some good news for fans, as ACTIVISION has said that fans stand a chance to win in-game rewards, the details of which will be announced later.
