VALORANT, a 5v5 tactical hero shooter developed by Riot Games, is arguably the most popular game right now, with over 14 million players on a monthly basis. Riot Games appears to be attempting to capitalize on the fan-favorite Battle Royale space by testing a VALORANT Battle Royale mode in China.
A Twitter user named PlayerIGN recently claimed that Chinese PUBG players took part in a secret VALORANT playtest that began in November 2020. The invitation of PUBG players to a private playtest of VALORANT implies that it has something to do with a Battle Royale game or mode that VALORANT may soon introduce.
PlayerIGN has some credibility as a potential leaker because he has previously leaked a number of things that turned out to be true.
ValorLeaks, a VALORANTt data miner, also discovered some new game mechanics in the game files that have yet to be seen in-game. All of these possible leaks point to VALORANT getting a Battle Royale mode soon.
Because VALORANT is only available on PC, it appears highly likely that the Battle Royale mode, if and when it is released, will be available first to PC players. It'll be interesting to see how the various agents and their abilities adapt to a Battle Royale mode.
